Silver Dollar City 1880’s Fun
Silver Dollar City is a 1880s theme park, it is big enough to expend the entire day there. Given the extreme cold conditions during our visit there was some rides closed (seriously). However, there is so much to enjoy during the holidays at the park, that we almost didn’t care about going on rides.
They have incredible live shows at different theaters around the park, our favorite was “Members Only” which featured greatest hits of 80s rock. We took a tour into the amazing Marvel Cave which is the main attraction where the park evolved into what it is today. Marvel Cave is a limestone nature wonder, with formations that are still alive and growing. This is one of the largest cave rooms in America, the tour takes around 60 min and is not recommended if you have lungs, back or heart problems.
Subsequently, during holidays the town square of the park become a joyful place with 1.5 million of Led lights that features a 8-story Christmas Tree. The event called “An old time Christmas” is a four-time winner of a USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice poll for the nation’s Best Theme Park Holiday Event! those are serious amount of lights there, it is crazy…
Hidden Valley Ski Resort
Alternatively, after so many live shows and nature parks we finally have some time for ski! However, we had to move a little more up north 2 hours from Branson chasing more snow. Hidden Valley Ski Resort is only about 30 min from St Louis. The resort features different trails and zip-lines for beginners or experts. The resort also offer ski classes for those who feel more comfortable with a guide.
It was the first time for kiddos at ski, at first they were kind of frustrated with the equipment, but once they got it, they were better than me (jajajaj) it was so much fun there , we played with the snow, fall, laughed, and do it again! BTW it is an amazing workout you can’t imagine how sore we were the next day!
Last but not least, we stopped by St Louis, and guess what??? we couldn’t leave before we tried the famous St Louis Ribs… Back in Branson the next day we passed by an outdoor mall, and I was realizing how much Branson has to offers, I underestimated this town and didn’t have enough time to go to other amazing places… It was fantastic definitely have to make it here again.
