Yeap! This is the story of “Journey” a fierce title girl and her family, whom have been dedicated the first almost 2 years of her life exploring and inspiring others to visit the wonders of our 63 US National Parks, appreciate nature and its benefits.
Journey’s Story
Journey lives in San Antonio, Texas. She’s currently 21 months old. Since she was born she’s being exploring outdoors. Sometimes, her destinations are just a car ride away, but other times, they involve exhausting flights to far away locations. Journey’s expeditions includes lots of conditioning and training that helps her keep up.
It all started days after she was born… When her parents (an active couple that enjoy hiking miles and miles of trails) Took Journey at Pikes Peak and Rocky Mountain National Park. Since then, they haven’t stopped (including Journey) and have had numerous outings including traveling to 40/63 National Parks. She also climbed Manitou Incline, hiked the Vortexes in Sedona and visited Maroon Bells. Once she learned to walk at 10 months, she was hiking a mile on her own. Journey is being getting stronger and more conditioned with every day’s hike; She’s hooked. Since she started this Journey, she have climbed mountains and bathed in rivers and Oceans. She have gone in caves and up canyons. Experiences and connections with nature is what matters most for this family from Texas.
Journey’s Challenges
Undoubtedly, most of us as parents know how complicated and challenging can be routine the first 3 years of a child’s life…Plus adding the traveling to these places where sometimes elements can be harsh. Journey’s parents definitely converted any obstacles of baby/toddler stages in an opportunity to inspire other families and corroborate that everything is possible when you have a purpose, a goal and believe in something.
What is the purpose of this adventure?
For this family, getting the chance to be outdoors and connect with nature is a therapeutic and spiritual experience (couldn’t agree more). Unfortunately, the pandemic brought a high peak in mental illness, adding also the screen time most of us in some way are addict to (phone, social media, email, video games…) the stress levels in some cities that result in a community totally divided and completely absent.
Journey’s travels are an invitation to just get outside, take a break and be present. Let’s visit a National Park with our children get healed and nurtured. The benefits are immeasurable. Castillo family’s expeditions might not be for where you are, but you can adapt them to your own adventure.
