One the most amazing and sustainable trips I ever done. It was intense, considering I was 6 months pregnant with Aytana. However, I was hallucinating! from history behind so many places, to the warmth of their people and the yumminess of their food. Italy has everything you might want, and you can’t have enough of it. At this time, we visited the principal cities (Rome, Florence, Milan, Venice) and spend some time in the Amalfi Coast (Sorrento and Positano).
Italy is the dream that keeps returning for the rest of your life.

Rome, history on every corner
If you have been there already you know what I am talking about. There is so much to do and time is never enough. Our flight arrived on an early June Friday afternoon, just two hours after we checked in in our hotel, we were on our way (jet lag included) to our special night at the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. During this special nights the Vatican open rooms that are not available to the public during regular day tours. You can also enjoy a happy hour and a 6o min concert, the atmosphere at night time is unique, you avoid crowds making your visit a lot more pleasant. You can skip the lines and reserve your tickets online here.
Next day, we where all ready to expend a full day walking. We started at the magnificent Collisseum and walk around Foro Romano. The amazing stories about war, pride and sacrifice and the mythical feeling on everything around you is just breathtaking, you almost feel so vulnerable around this powerful structures. Sight seeing is just never ending in Rome, whenever you look there a piece, building or place with some history behind it. This are also some of the sites we visited that are a must during your stay in Rome.
- Altar of Fatherland.
- Pantheon.
- Piazza Navona.
- Spanish Steps.
- Piazza di Spagna.
- Trevi Fountain.
Foro Romano Coliseum Fontana di Trevi Altar of Fatherland Pantheon Authentic Italian Gnocchi
Everything is walking distance and please don’t forget about food! There is fantastic restaurants and gelato shops near by Piazza di Spagna. I would like to recommend you Cuccina & Vista an amazing spot to eat with a gorgeous view of the Spanish Steps. We got to be 3 days in Rome and I know I missed so much, maybe another time!
Positano
Getting here was quite a trip but so worthy, I promise myself this trip will be as sustainable as possible so we only traveled long distances by train, make accommodations walking distance to all attractions and places we wanted to visit and supported local businesses. So it all stared with a 3 hour fast train from Rome to Salerno, followed by a ferry through Amalfi Coast about an hour to get to Positano’s Pier. Once you get there, you have to prepare those legs because everything is located in the hills where you only get by doing the steps. There is even staff from hotels at the pier prepared to take all your luggage up to the hill. We joked so much about it since my husband naive of what that meant decided to take the luggage himself and after some walking he wished never done it. It was quite a serious workout!
Positano Steps Views from the hills Limoncello Trees
Positano is a romantic cliffside village with a pebble beachfront, it is shaped like a pyramid sculpted by its colorful buildings, all its passages take you to the cutest shops and cafes. The best views of Positano are actually from the sea, where you can appreciate the magnificence of the mountains and the sky combined with the vertical layout of mediterranean houses and the rich color of their facades.
Breakfast with a view La Rosa di Venti L’Incanto Restaurant
We visited Positano Spiaggia beach where most of the restaurants are, it is a must to enjoy one of their seafood pizza and get some limoncello drinks. The next day we spend the day at Fornillo Beach, enjoy the ocean and visited some shops where you can find everything made out of the famous lemons in the region : limoncello, desserts, candles, perfume etc… Ah! and don’t forget to get yourself a beautiful piece of handmade linen tie dye clothes.
